From the makers of the popular iPad sketching app, Paper, and the creators of what Wired and The Verged considered to be ‘the best iPad stylus’, comes a new stylus colour from FiftyThree, the Pencil Gold. It offers the same features as the original Walnut and Graphite versions, such as Surface Pressure, Erase, Blend, and Palm Rejection in one package. The Gold version will retail for $59.99 and allow owners to match the colour scheme of their new iPhone or iPad in a golden fashion.
FiftyThree has announced their in-app purchase of their ‘Essential’ tools is now free to anyone who downloads the app. To now solely bank on their hardware offerings is a bold move, coming from an initially software-only company. Providing a complete software solution — including the Draw, Sketch, Outline, Write, Colour, and the Mixer tools, users may start to see the value in consolidating their Pencil’s features to provide an integrated drawing experience.
Another appealing reason to grab a Pencil for yourself is the Pencil SDK FiftyThree released back in the Summer of 2014. The software lets app developers utilize the additional features that Pencil offers, which we’ve seen successfully amalgamated with professional creative apps such as Procreate and Noteshelf.
